Phonological awareness

Recognising rhymes, counting syllables, blending sounds into words, and breaking words down into individual sounds

Phonics

Learning how letters and sounds work together, sounding out and blending sounds to read new words

Building speaking skills, learning new words, and using them to express ideas and understand others
